The Vineyard


Planted in April 2013, The Vineyard at Camp Lucy occupies seven acres with one acre dedicated to three varietals of red wine producing grapes making up the Camp Lucy Estate blend: Mourvedre, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

The first harvest of about 200 gallons was in August of 2015 and produced about 30% of the vineyard, with 2016's harvest close to three times that.  The wine which is being produced by William Chris Winery in Hye, Texas should be ready by the end of 2016.  William Chris Vineyards owners and winemakers, Bill Blackmon and Chris Brundrett both grew grapes and made wine for other companies until 2008 when they broke out and started William Chris Vineyards.  They farm about 40 acres all over Texas including Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Mourvèdre and Trebbiano Toscano. William Chris is a family owned, super premium, boutique winery focused on hand crafted Texas wine, using minimum handling, low-impact techniques to produce a high quality product.
